My Reading Room
My Reading Room

Throughout my years I have enjoyed many different hobbies but one always comes back to me. Reading! I find it to be enjoyable and a peaceful escape from the stresses of daily life. From reading adventures about fantasy creatures to murder mysteries and romance. I always found that there was something that kept me hooked and opened my eyes to a new world. I don’t just see the text when I read, I imagine, I dream, I see in my mind the tale of the story and empathise with the characters set out in the world of creation. I’m one of those people that can never start a new book before bed, I won’t be able to stop!

Reading is definitely an important part of my life, so I took it upon myself to create a room within my house that would be dedicated to reading. Not just a space to read but a place to relax, wind down and forget about all the stress. I think it is very important to create your own space, for anything, for hobbies, gaming, reading, art. Just think of a place that isn’t your bedroom and make that yours. I find that if you associate anything with your bedroom, this may affect your sleep quality and motivation. I know for a fact that I would be sitting in my bed on my phone doom scrolling (maybe that’s how you got here). This had to stop, so I created my own space to use before going to bed and the stress of life reduced.

I created what I call the reading room. I got some nice furniture from Ikea and set it all up. It’s a beautiful and cosy room that makes you want to sit down and relax. I don’t just use this room for reading, I use it to wind down for the night or day. I can read, watch shows, go on my laptop or do puzzles. Anything to help relax my brain from the hard day of work. It motivates me to keep doing my hobbies and not give up. Creating your own space isn’t just about a physical area, but also about dedicating time and moments that are just for you. It can deeply enrich your sense of well-being, creativity, and productivity. Focus on what brings you joy, comfort, and fulfilment. To let your space reflect who you are and find yourself.

I hope that you all can create your own space and spend some time just for yourself (not in bed! No doom scrolling! 😊) Pick up a book, draw, watch a movie or show, paint, blog, play a game, listen to music. You will be surprised how creative you can get once you have your own space to relax in.

P.S: If you have any amazing book recommendations, let me know! These are some authors I enjoy. Laurell K. Hamilton, Victoria Aveyard, Sarah J. Mass and Lynette Noni.

Oh hell yeah. Love a good book. Have you tried the King Killer series by Patrick Ruthfuss? They're great (but we have been waiting ages for book 3).

I tried reading one of Laurelle K. Hamilton’s nooks recently and just couldn’t get past the first couple of chapters. I’m sure I’ve got more of her books in my boxes under the pool table. I’ll bring the one I know where it is in for you.

I enjoyed reading your blog. You made me go back and read some of my own forgotten blog posts. I really should start blogging again.

Thanks! Yeah I enjoy her long series, The Anita Blake Vampire Hunter. I found that the first book took some time to get hooked but after that I got into it I have 27 books from that series! 🤣 I'll have to read the other ones from her.
